Itinerary

  • Welcome to Tanzania, the gateway to your Kilimanjaro adventure. If you’ve chosen our airport transfer service, one of our local guides will be waiting for you at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), holding a sign with our logo. They’ll ensure you get safely to Weru Weru Lodge, your base before the trek.

If you’re making your own way, check-in at Weru Weru Lodge is available from 15:00. Take this time to relax, settle in, and prepare for the journey ahead.

    Meals: N/A

  • Today, you’ll join your group for a guided cultural experience in Moshi, a vibrant town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. You’ll explore local markets, pick up any last-minute trekking snacks, and soak up the Tanzanian atmosphere. A stop at Union Café, famous for serving some of the best coffee in Tanzania, is the perfect way to fuel up.

After returning to the lodge, you’ll have time to relax before your pre-trek briefing at 17:00, where your expert Kilimanjaro guide will walk you through the itinerary, safety information, and last-minute gear checks.

    Meals: Breakfast

  • The adventure begins! After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Marangu Gate (1,860m), where your permits and paperwork will be processed. This may take some time, but once everything is sorted, you’ll set off through lush rainforest, keeping an eye out for colobus monkeys swinging through the trees.

After a steady 4–5 hour trek, you’ll arrive at Mandara Huts (2,720m), nestled deep in the jungle.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Today, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and ascend into the moorland zone, where the landscape changes dramatically. As you climb, you’ll begin to see the vast, open terrain of Kilimanjaro stretching out before you.

After 5–7 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Horombo Huts (3,720m), high above the clouds, where you can enjoy a hot drink, take in the spectacular views, and rest up for the next challenge.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Acclimatisation is key to a successful Kilimanjaro summit, and today you’ll take a short trek to Zebra Rock (3,980m), a striking geological formation with a unique striped pattern. After a few photo opportunities, you’ll return to Horombo Huts to rest.

In the afternoon, you’ll meet your full local guiding and porter team, who will welcome you with traditional songs and warm Tanzanian hospitality.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Leaving Horombo, you’ll push into the alpine desert zone, where the air is thinner, and the landscape feels otherworldly. The trek to Kibo Huts (4,700m) takes around 5–6 hours, with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak along the way.

Arriving at base camp in the early afternoon, you’ll eat, hydrate, and get a few hours of rest before your midnight summit push.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • This is the big one—the toughest but most rewarding day of the trek. At midnight, you’ll begin your ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. The climb is steep and demanding, but the reward is worth it.

As the sun rises over Mawenzi, you’ll reach the summit, standing on top of Africa with endless views across Tanzania. After celebrating and taking photos, you’ll descend back to Kibo Huts for food and rest, then continue to Horombo Huts (3,720m) for a well-earned night’s sleep.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Your final trekking day! From Horombo, you’ll make the long descent back through moorland and rainforest, returning to Marangu Gate to receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate.

Celebrate your achievement with a well-earned beer at the small shop near the gate, or wait until you’re back at the lodge for a dip in the refreshing pool.

    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

  • Today is all about relaxation and reflection after your incredible Kilimanjaro climb. Spend the morning recovering and enjoying the lodge’s surroundings.

In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to visit Amani Children’s Home, an organisation dedicated to supporting street children in Moshi. Before heading there, you’ll stop to purchase much-needed supplies, making a meaningful contribution to this incredible project.

    Meals: Breakfast

  • Sadly, it’s time to say goodbye. If you’ve already caught the adventure travel bug, why not explore our other bucket-list treks? We’d love to help you plan your next challenge.

For those with pre-booked airport transfers, your guide will ensure you get to Kilimanjaro International Airport in plenty of time for your flight home.
