Starting in Moshi, you’ll be guided every step of the way by our experienced team. The Marangu Route takes you through lush rainforests, scenic moorlands, and stark alpine deserts as you make your way to Uhuru Peak, 5,895 metres above sea level. Each day is carefully planned to allow for acclimatisation, giving you the best possible chance to reach the summit.

Itinerary

Today is the arrival day. If you have selected transfers with us you will be met at the airport by one of our local guides who will be waiting with a sign that has our logo and name on it.
If you haven’t, you will need to meet us at Weru Weru lodge. Check in is available from 1500

Today you will have your first group experience as you make your way around Moshi soaking up all the local culture and buying any last minute snacks you need for the trek. You’ll stop for coffee at the union cafe in Moshi and sample some of the best coffee in Tanzania. When you’re back you’ll have time to relax a little before your briefing at 1700 with your guide.

At the time set by your guide the previous day you’ll meet for your transfer to the Marangu gate. Once you get here there will be a little bit of waiting around to sort permits etc but once thats all done you’ll start your trek to the Mandara huts, nestled in the jungle.

Today you'll make your way to the Horombo huts. From here you’ll be high above the clouds, looking down as they form a carpet beneath you. spend the rest of the day drinking Milo and resting.

Today is an acclimatisation day. you’ll make your way up to zebra rock (so called because of the unique pattern on it) before taking some pictures and making your way back down to the huts. You’ll also meet your full local guiding and porter team today where they’ll greet you with traditional songs.

You’ll leave the Horombo huts for Kibo today, aiming to arrive not long after lunchtime. From here you’ll get a few precious hours of rest before leaving for the summit.

Having left around midnight you’ll aim to summit for approx 0800/0900. This will be one of the longest nights of your life but the reward of watching the sunrise over Mawenzi makes it all worth it. Make your way back to Kibo for some food and then on to Horombo to give you the best rest possible.

Final push today as you go from Horombo all the way back to the gate. once there celebrate your achievement with a beer sold in the shop opposite if you want or wait to jump in the pool back at the lodge.

Today is a free day to relax and take in your epic achievement of having summited one of the seven summits. In the afternoon make your way to Amani school for street kids after a quick visit to buy much needed supplies for this incredible project.
